wild Maths in the park: call for workshops!
🌿 Call for Workshop Leaders: Wild Maths in the Park! 🌿
Family Fun Day | 27 September | Wilton Lodge Park, Hawick
We have been approched by Live Borders to support with finding some exciting workshops for their upcoming maths week in September.
Do you have a passion for exploring the natural world through numbers, patterns, and shapes? Live Borders are looking for workshop leaders and speakers to join us for Wild Maths – a day of hands-on activities designed to explore how maths appears all around us in nature.
This exciting event will take place during our Family Fun Day on Friday 27 September in the beautiful Wilton Lodge Park, home to Hawick Museum. We’re aiming to bring maths to life for all ages – from spirals in sunflowers to symmetry in leaves, fractals in ferns to counting creatures in the river. Whether you’re an educator, artist, scientist, or simply a nature-and-numbers enthusiast, we’d love to hear from you!
Get involved!
We’re looking for:
Interactive workshops or drop-in activities
Short talks or walk-and-talks in the park
Creative installations or demos
Information points linking maths, climate, and nature
There is budget available for this and this can be discussed when you express interest.
👉 Deadline to express interest: 7th July
Let us know how you’d like to take part – email Emily Moir, education, and access officer for Live Borders - emilymarie.moir@liveborders1.org.uk
Let’s make maths wild and wonderful together!
