Vole Surveying on Selkirk Hill

On Saturday 17th October, SBCAN and Bright Green Nature hosted another Nature Networks Event. This time we were up at Selkirk Hill for a vole surveying workshop led by Megan Bond from Bright Green Nature. Making the most of a beautifully sunny day, the group had the opportunity to learn more about vole surveying and develop practical skills to help support local wildlife monitoring and nature conservation. We used quadrats and searched the hill for signs of voles. No voles were seen on the day but we did see some tunnels and droppings which highlighted there are voles on the hill.

There are more opportunities to get involved in the nature networks work over the coming weeks, with events exploring the past, present and future of Selkirk Hill and Deer Park, alongside a session looking at the next steps for Nature Networks and climate action in and around Selkirk.

  • Monday 2 November, 6.30–8pm: Selkirk Hill: Past, Present, and Future

  • Thursday 12 November, 1.30–3pm: What Next for Nature Networks and Climate Action in and Around Selkirk?

  • Wednesday 25 November, 6.30–8pm: Deer Park: Past, Present, and Future

Find event details and book your place through Eventbrite. All the events are happening at the Haining in Selkirk.
