Launch of Selkirk Nature Networks

Selkirk Nature Networks is a place-based climate engagement programme rooted in the landscapes around Selkirk, including Deer Park, Selkirk Hill and a wider network of ponds, wetlands and connecting habitats. The project will use these connected sites as a living platform to help people understand how climate change is already affecting the Borders, and how restoring degraded habitats can strengthen resilience for both nature and community.

The core idea is simple. Climate change can feel distant and abstract. But water levels in a pond, a dry hillside vulnerable to fire, or heavier rainfall running off compacted ground are tangible and local. By working directly with these landscapes, we will help people see how adaptation works in practice, and how biodiversity recovery is part of climate resilience.

Join us at The Haining on July 1st and hear how you can get involved this Summer through a series of practical, hands-on climate and nature activity at Selkirk Hill and the Deer Park. At the event, Bright Green Nature and Selkirk Hill Group will share work that is ongoing across their two sites (Deer Park and Selkirk Hill)- before SUP's Scottish Borders Climate Action Network facilitate a conversation, over tea and cake, about the opportunities, challenges and potential for growing a nature network across Selkirk and the Valleys- and exploring climate impacts on these landscapes and habitats.

If you can join us, please RSVP by reserving a space through this link: Selkirk Nature Networks Forum Launch Tickets, Wednesday, July 1  •  1:30 PM - 4:30 PM | Eventbrite
