Inwards, Outwards and Earthwards. Work in Progress Performance for Children
Location: Eastgate Theatre, Peebles
Date of Event: 29 August 2026
Time of Event: 11:00 AM
Short Description of Event: This is a Work-in-Progress showing of a performance for 7 – 10 years old and their families. Working with movement, objects, field recordings and archive materials, Inwards, Outwards and Earthwards meanders through Border landscapes evoking woodland, river and meadow. Exploring themes of nature connection, regeneration and biodiversity, past, present and future practices of living within the land are woven into a playful, sensory and imaginative performance for young audiences. Moving inwards, outwards and earthwards might be the new dance we all need to learn to care for this shared earth. Keen to involve young people in the creation of the work, the artists have been working with 14 children from Walkerburn Primary School to develop ideas for the performance. This work-in-progress showing invites a wider audience into the process, to test out ideas and help inform the next stage. There will be a chance to talk to the artists at the end. This is a free event, but tickets are limited, so please book in advance to secure your seats.
