Green Health week celebration!
As part of Green Health Week, SBCAN was delighted to host, along with Sea the Change and NHS Borders, a vibrant and inspiring event in Eyemouth, celebrating the powerful connections between climate, nature, and wellbeing.
We were treated to glorious sunshine throughout the day, setting the tone for a series of relaxed and engaging activities that highlighted how being in nature supports both individual and community health.
We started the morning at Sea the Change cycle shack with the chance to hire an e-bike or have a shot on their fabulous trishaws with the Sea the Change team. Both of these opportunities demonstrate an exciting step towards making active travel more inclusive and accessible. The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many enjoying the chance to explore Eyemouth, in the sunshine, in a new way.
Following the active morning, we made our way across to the beautiful Gunsgreen House for a series of presentations from NHS Borders and SBCAN. These talks offered thoughtful insights into the link between health, wellbeing, and the climate —reminding us that caring for our environment is closely tied to caring for our physical and mental health as well as looking out after each other.
From discussions on nature-based mental health support to the role of community in building climate resilience, the event created space for meaningful conversations and new ideas.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their knowledge. As per the theme of Green Health Week, it was a timely reminder that nature is for everyone—and that local community action can have a lasting impact on both people and our planet.
