An Introduction to Rewilding at the haining

We joined Dr Karen Blackport, ecosystem health scientist Dr Karen Blackport, who is CEO of Borders based rewilding charity Bright Green Nature and Co-Convenor of the Scottish Rewilding Alliance., at The Haining for our second expertise talk of the autumn. The subject of Karen’s talk was an introduction to rewilding, looking at the practicalities of rewilding and sharing some of her insights into the subject, Karen also sought to address some of the criticisms that are directed at rewilding . It was really encouraging to see such a mixture of ages in attendance, with four members of the Young Rewilders Group joining in with the discussion.

Following the first half of the talk, Karen led a walk to Deer Park to see Bright Green Nature's Rewilding site and we were shown the restored ponds, grasslands; there were discussions around translocation and grazing with lots of great questions from those in attendance.
