Buy tickets – Integrating Trees Network
Farmers and land managers are invited to join the Dobie farming family in Duns for an event to promote the benefits of growing trees.
he Dobies will welcome us to Abbey St Bathans Farm, a 1400 acre upland sheep farm, that forms part of an estate which has been in the family for over 250 years. They’ll introduce us to their project to create small in-field woodlands and discuss their plans for future planting.
We’ll hear about the many benefits the trees will bring, including shelter and shade and future grazing, a long-term timber supply and increased biodiversity. We’ll look at the initial thought process, decision to plant trees, unique design, chosen ground prep, choice of broadleaves over conifers, and challenges faced along the way, including dreaded drought and deer. Come along and join the discussion.
We’ll have a speaker from Scottish Forestry joining us to discuss funding and first steps to woodland creation.
